FAQ's

As long as the product still feels cool then it has integrity and the quality was not compromised. Upon delivery, immediately put them in your freezer or refrigerator until you are ready to prepare them, and keep the vacuum packaging intact on each steak.

The recommended thawing method for your steak is to remove from freezer and place in your refrigerator on a dish for a slow thaw, keeping the steaks unopened inside their vacuum packaging. Counter top thawing or thawing under running water is not recommended. Quickly freezing (our job) and slowly thawing (your job) ensures the optimum tenderness and juiciness is maintained. Most steaks will thaw within 24 hours in your refrigerator.

On occasion, the vacuum seal may develop tiny, pinhole leaks during the freezing and/or shipping process which become evident during thawing. While this should not compromise the meat integrity, we recommend placing the product on a plate or in a baking dish to ensure all juices are caught and not spilled into the refrigerator.

Please keep your steaks inside the vacuum packaging until you are ready to prepare them for cooking. Remove the vacuum packaging before cooking. The steaks cannot be cooked inside the vacuum package, even under sous vide methods.  

All of our boxes and insulated box liners are fully reusable and/or recyclable. The vacuum packaging for each steak is neither reusable nor recyclable. Finally, all gel packs are reusable.

All orders have a two-day delivery window once the orders are shipped. Ordering vs Shipping schedule is as follows: Orders placed Sunday-Wednesday at noon will ship Monday-Wednesday for same week delivery and will arrive within two days of shipment. Orders placed Wednesday afternoon - Saturday will ship the following week and arrive within two days of shipment. Southern Meat Co ships from Atlanta, Georgia.
